You are strongly advised to keep your copy of Recorder 6 updated to the most recent version. The upgrades contain useful extensions to the functionality as well as bug fixes. From V6.10 onwards upgrades do not include dictionary updates. These need to be downloaded from the Dictionary Downloads page. You can check which version of both Recorder and the Species Dictionary you are currently using by clicking "Help" and then selecting "About Recorder 6".
You MUST backup of your database and also your user file and application folders before running the upgrade. For network installations the upgrade needs to be run on a workstation which has a working copy of R6 - you will need Admin rights on the Server and workstation and also for SQL server. To run the upgrade download and unzip the appropriate file to somewhere . Find file Recorder Upgrade.exe and double click on it. After the upgrade has run, open Recorder and check the version details in Help-About Recorder 6. The four index tables must be rebuilt after each upgrade. Carry out your own checks to ensure that R6 is working correctly and that no data has been lost. If you have modified the database in anyway or changed XML Reports or users files ensure that the upgrade has not affected these. Retain your backups until you are satisfied that R6 is working to your satisfaction. For release notes covering each version click here.
